1st Quarter

Here it is March already! The 1st Quarter of 2010 is passing us by.  We're so ready for spring.  Bruce is already trying to sneak in as much fishing as he can.  We've had a couple of beautiful days so far and Kaitlyn loves a cool breeze in her face! It makes her giggle.

March 6th we celebrated Kaitlyn's Baptism at Saint Bartholomew.  That's the same church Bruce and I married in and Deacon Gary Brooks, who married us, also baptized her.

We chose Angela Gill and Mike, my brother as Kaitlyn's Godparents.   Godparents in the eyes of the Catholic church are chosen to make sure Kaitlyn is raised Catholic and if something should happen to us, they are there to maintain that she is taught about the Grace of God in accordance to our wishes.  Therefore, Godparents are required to be practicing Catholics as well.  I am the Godparent to Angela's youngest daughter Anna and my neice Mackenzie, Mike's youngest.

Kaitlyn was the only baby who didn't cry when she was baptized.  She was one of 6 babies to be christened during the ceremony.

Let it Snow; Let it Snow!

Bruce's birthday is Feburary 3rd which we celebrated with his parents having dinner.  He also got to celebrate with Jim and Jeff in South Texas hunting hogs along with Cody Cloud and several other guys.

Kaitlyn is getting more and more mobile.  She has a giraffe Crystal brought her and she loves it.  Her feet ALMOST touch the ground when she's in her bouncers.   We put together her high chair and she thinks she's queen of the world in there -- which she is!  She's eating all kinds of food now.  Sweet potatoes are her favorite!  She'll eat a whole container of that.  She aslo eats peas, carrots, squash, green beans, mixed vegetables with spinach and potatoes She loves bananas which is sometimes mixed with any combonation of blueberry, strawberry, cherry, and oranges.  She's also eaten some avocado.  We give her little cereal puffs that dissolve and biter biscuits which are real messy but she loves them.

We've had record amounts of snowfall this year.  One day this month we had over 10" fall.  We had a great time and certainly enjoyed our snow day!  We even made ice cream out of the snow which didn't taste half bad.  It took all four of us, but we made a pretty big snow man.  I think that's what hurt Bruce's back and my wrist just a little.  Dang snowman.

Kaitlyn got her first head cold this month.  She was running 103.9 temp at one time.  She had a runny nose and a pretty ugly cough lasting about a week.  We took her back into the dr. and she'd gained 10oz.  They gave her some antibiotics and we also gave her some Claritin which seemed to really help.
I took her a week later back to the dr for a weight check in and she is up to 13lbs now!  Dr. was pleased with that, however still wants us to follow up with the genetics dr. still.  I'm really not worried about that and think it's a little silly -- but on the off chance there is something, I'd rather be safe than sorry.
She's such a good natured baby and is all smiles most of the time.  She doesn't take very long naps and sometimes she'll cry out in her sleep throughout the night.  Most of the time though, it's about 3:30/4:00 in the morning when she's crying out and I go ahead and give her a bottle then and she'll sleep on until anywhere from 9:30 - 10:30.   Her top two teeth have fully come in now too and I wonder if that doesn't have something to do with her sleep at night.

Basketball season ended and Taylor had an award night at Mamma's Pizza where she received a bobble head trophy!  She got commended by her coach as an agressive player and most improved defense.  She's still doing jump rope team at school and they had their first performance this month too.

2010 Begins

Can you believe it's been a decade since everyone wondered if they should be stock piling water and food for Y2K?  I have been reflecting how my life has transpired since then.  I have turned a job into a  career.  I have snorkeled in the beautiful waters of the Caribbean several times, stood on frozen lakes in Minnesota and South Dakota, seen the ball drop in New York City for new years eve and even seen the red carpet in Hollywood.  I witnessed the overwhelming, emotional homecomeing of United States Soliders from War in Iraq.  I have traveled by land, air and sea.  I have developed relationships as a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a wife, and now a mother.  The past ten years have been fullfilling and filled with experiences of a lifetime.  I feel pretty confident that the next decade's experiences and events will top anything I've even seen though.  What an exciting time in life.

This year Bruce went to the deer lease New Year's eve with Paul Herring and Chris Morton.  With all of the snow the ground was pretty soggy and they ended up getting stuck in the mud.  They had to call a tow truck to get them out.  Then the tow truck got stuck.

The weather turned so cold this month that our pool had about 2 inches of ice on it.  I don't recall ever seeing Texas have single digit temperatures like we have had this year.  Below is chunks of ice from the pool on January 10th.

Taylor started playing basketball this season.  She really developed into a great little defense player!

Kaitlyn and I went to Tyson's luncheon for his art work he entered into the Fort Worth Stock Show was also this month.  He found out he won 3rd place and $75!!

Kaitlyn is now 1/2 a year!! Can you believe it?!  At her 6 month check up she weighed 12lbs even and was 23 and 3/4" long.  She  is rolling all over the place to get to where she wants to be and babbling up a storm.  She doesn't have an indoor voice just yet.  I think her top two teeth are begining to make their way in.  The Dr. said she's a little worried that she's not growing more but she was 99% sure she was fine since she's developing so much in all other areas.  Dr. Stadtler said that we needed to make an appointment with a genenics dr just for that 1% chance there's some reason.  We think she takes after Bruce's side of the family and is just small.  However, I went ahead and made an appointment for the first part of April.  The dr. also suggested that we add formula to her diet in additon to all of the food she's been eating.  She's taken to the formula very well!
